Case Study: Calgary Stampede
How 5050 Central Helped our Cause
The 2010 World Junior Hockey Championships was the prime opportunity for 5050 Central to showcase their new technology to the 50/50 raffle industry. Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada set the world stage for this up-and-coming business. This exposure is what motivated us to inquire with 5050 Central to discover how their systems could benefit our Charitable Partner and the Calgary Stampede Foundation.
The Stampede Lotteries Committee operates a 50/50 during our ten day festival known as the Calgary Stampede. We conduct twenty (20) 50/50 raffles each year during the Rodeo and Grandstand Shows. Our original manual system consisted of a two-part ticket which was perforated; one stub to the buyer and the other stub for the draw. The limitations of a manual system meant reaching capacity quickly and a lack of volunteers to maximize sales. Introducing the 5050 Central system helped our cause in so many ways; the following is just a list:
- Our Sales grew by 250%
- We paid 100% of the hardware acquisition costs the 1st Year
- Our Net Foundation Proceeds nearly doubled (even though we chose to pay for the hardware 100% in the first year)
- Operational accuracy increased many times
- Our volunteers’ job satisfaction increased as the new system was easier to use and the progressive nature builds excitement and this meant volunteers were thrilled to be part of sales which ultimately grew above $100,000 for one event.
Each year there are two key objectives for our organization, first we focus on the net benefit derived by our charities and the second is the wellbeing of our volunteers. With this new system we can’t be more pleased. The 5050 Central team is professional, down-to-earth and results driven. 5050 Central delivered on all promises and ensured our goals were reached.
We wish 5050 Central continued success and say to all those contemplating this choice, you won’t be disappointed. Our results show the impact that new technology has on the fundraising industry. Learn from us, as our only regret is not introducing this system sooner. Make the change and your volunteers, supporters and charities will be forever grateful.
