University of Toledo Goes Electronic, Partners with Pointstreak 5050

TOLEDO, OH - The University of Toledo, in conjunction with the Downtown Coaches Association, will be introducing a new computerized 50/50 raffle system for their home football and basketball games beginning with the 2014-15 school year. With new partner Pointstreak 5050, raffles at Rockets athletic events will be operated with a new and innovative technology that is quickly gaining adoption among NCAA schools.

“The University of Toledo Athletic Department is excited about the partnership between the Downtown Coaches Association and Pointstreak 5050,” said Dave Nottke, the senior associate athletic director for development & external affairs at UT. “We were very impressed with the systems efficiency in running a 50/50 draw and we are looking forward to the excitement this brings to our game-day experience for our fans. Also, the additional revenue opportunities the system creates will be a great benefit to our programs here at UT.”

Since 1937, the Downtown Coaches Association has welcomed men and women to promote and encourage interest in athletics at The University of Toledo. The DCA has been operating 50/50 draws at UT sporting events for over 30 years. Since the organization’s existence, it has donated over $1 million dollars to the University athletic department and its sports teams.

Pointstreak 5050, nominated for the Best In Sports Technology category at the 2013 Sports Business Awards, allows 50/50 tickets to be sold through electronic devices, such as manned kiosks or roving ticket sellers with handhelds. Jackpot totals can be displayed in real time on video monitors throughout the stadium, engaging consumers and fueling sales.  Other benefits of the Pointstreak system include an accurate accounting of all transactions, increased and more efficient sales, as well as a data capture feature that will allow the University and the Downtown Coaches Association to learn more about their fans and communicate more effectively with them. 

The Pointstreak 5050 system will debut at the Glass Bowl on August 30^th when the Rockets take on the New Hampshire. Proceeds from the 50/50 raffles will support University of Toledo athletic programs.
