PORTLAND, Ore. – The make it better Foundation is partnering with The Safeway Foundation and Pointstreak 5050 to introduce an innovative, charitable fundraising platform and a unique, new game-day experience for fans. The 5050 Rip City Raffle will be held at the Moda Center during every home Trail Blazers game during the 2013-14 season.
“Our fans continue to be tremendously generous in supporting the work of the make it better Foundation,” said Traci Rose, CEO of the make it better Foundation. “The Rip City Raffle provides us a new and unique way in which the team can join with our fans to make an even bigger impact on the lives of deserving kids throughout Oregon and SW Washington.”
The 5050 Rip City Raffle will be managed by the make it better Foundation and staffed by volunteers from Safeway, AC Portland, All Hands Raised, Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest, Boys & Girls Clubs of Portland Metropolitan Area and Urban League of Portland Young Professionals.
“Safeway is thrilled to be partnering with the Portland Trail Blazers to raise funds for some of the Portland area’s most effective and impactful non-profit organizations,” said Steve Frisby, President of Safeway’s Portland and Seattle Divisions. “The Safeway Foundation has always been dedicated to supporting organizations in the communities our stores serve, and joining together with the make it better Foundation is another fantastic avenue to enhance this support.”
Each 5050 raffle will begin 90 minutes prior to the start of the game and continue until midway through the third quarter. The winner will be announced during the fourth quarter, and that person will receive 50% of the total money raised that night. The remaining 50% will benefit the make it better Foundation with half of those proceeds split evenly among the partnering non-profits.
Raffle kiosks can be found on the main concourse at Entry A7 and on the 300 level concourse at Entry C31. In addition, volunteers with portable handheld devices will sell tickets on the main concourse, Club level, Suite level, Courtside Club, 300 level concourse and designated outside locations. Only cash will be accepted for raffle tickets.
“We’ve had great success with many professional sports franchises and foundations in helping them raise significant charitable dollars through Pointstreak’s platform,” said Pointstreak 5050 President Kevin Lovitt. “Knowing the support and passion that Trail Blazers fans have for their team, I have no doubt that this program will be a huge success and bring even more excitement to Trail Blazers games.”
The make it better Foundation was established in 2009 with the vision to bring the team together with its fans to lend valuable assists to children and their families where they Live, Learn & Play. The 5050 Rip City Raffle is just the latest of a number of initiatives created by the Foundation focused on making it better for kids in Oregon and SW Washington.
