The Philadelphia Flyers, through its charitable affiliate Flyers Charities, is partnering with Pointstreak 5050 to create an exciting new fan interactive contest throughout each and every Flyers home game to help local non-profit groups in the Greater Philadelphia Region.
Through this new partnership, and with support of a recently passed bill by state legislature, the Flyers, and their charitable affiliate, become the first professional sports team in Philadelphia to conduct a 50/50 raffle during games. Throughout the game, volunteers sell raffle tickets to all fans where 50-percent of the money collected is donated to causes supported by Flyers Charities and Comcast-Spectacor Charities and the remaining 50-percent of the money is presented to one lucky person selected randomly.
"If it matters in our community, it matters to Comcast-Spectacor," said Comcast-Spectacor President Peter Luukko. "The 50/50 raffle is an exciting way for our fans to help us support many of these deserving causes while at the same time possibly winning a good amount of money.
"We have seen immediate success that has far exceeded our expectations," added Luukko. "We are grateful to Pointstreak 5050 for providing the outstanding technology and support to help us ultimately help those who are less fortunate."
The funds raised from the 50/50 raffle and other initiatives of Flyers Charities and Comcast-Spectacor Charities help support hundreds of non-profit organizations throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region, including the Ed Snider Youth HockeyFoundation.
"Pointstreak 5050 could not be prouder of our work with the Flyers and Comcast-Spectacor," said Kevin Lovitt, President of Pointstreak 5050. "From the very top of the organization down, Comcast-Spectacor's commitment to helping others has been unmatched. We are very thankful for the chance to become part of the Comcast-Spectacor family and we will support their mission and their fans with every resource."
After debuting the 50/50 raffle during the Flyers' home opener on Saturday, January 19, the raffle exceeded $41,000 in its first outing.
