Two things stand out about University of North Dakota's hockey games in February against conference rival Denver University: 1.) UND's win moved them up to the #1 rank in the nation and 2.) The UND athletic department reaped a huge windfall after record-setting 50/50 raffles.
Commented Michael R. Bergeron, CFO of Ralph Engelstad Arena: "The 5050 draws continue to surpass our expectations at Ralph Engelstad Arena while adding to the in-game experience for our guests who enjoy playing the raffles and watching the pots grow real time."
The University of North Dakota is one of a growing number of NCAA schools that includes Michigan State, Arizona State, Denver, Bowling Green and Michigan Tech, to use Pointstreak 5050, a highly automated electronic raffle system. Compared to traditional paper raffles, electronic raffles have proven to boost fundraising by extending the in-game sales time and displaying the growing pot on the scoreboard and concourse displays
